Mosley Vows to Shock the World

Shane Mosley, fighting boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is his chance to “shock the world”. The 39-year-old American boxer said he want to disprove claims that he’s already past his peak by knocking out Pacquiao. The Pacquiao vs Mosley fight is scheduled on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"It's great. A lot of times, people, they see that I might look vulnerable, and that maybe, I look like I'm on my way out," he said. "You know, my response is that some of those guys don't really know boxing... They don't understand how I'm going to knock him (Pacquiao) out," he added.

Mosley plans to go toe-to-toe against the 32-year-old Pacquiao when they meet in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Filipino champ's World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight crown.

"I'm definitely going to be in shape. You can expect Sugar Shane to be in great shape," he said.

Mosley (46-6-1) is coming off two disappointing matches in 2010. Last September, he was held to a controversial draw by Sergio Mora. Months earlier, he lost a unanimous decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr., who was considered as Pacquiao’s closest rival. On the other hand, Pacquiao (52-3-2) has been undefeated 13 straight times since 2005.

Manny Pacquiao said the brisk ticket sales show that people are interested in boxing even if the match is against an "aging" fighter, Shane Mosley. Pacquiao said he was pleased to hear that tickets for the Mosley fight on May 7 were nearly sold out just 3 hours after they were released the other day. It’s overwhelming, isn’t it? To know that so many people are interested to see us fight. Imagine, 16,000 tickets sold in just 3 hours,” he said. The tickets being sold out is a strong evidence that boxing is alive and well, he added.

Pacquiao vs Mosley fight is scheduled on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada for his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title. The pound-for-pound king assured his fans of a thrilling fight. He said this is his way of showing his gratitude for their support. Top Rank Inc., which handles the promotion of the Pacquiao vs Mosley fight, earlier reported that it sold approximately 16,000 tickets 3 hours after its release on February 1.

“Incredible, simply incredible,” Top Rank chief, Bob Arum, said. “I have never promoted a fight that has sold so many tickets so quickly.” The tickets were released at 10 a.m. (Pacific Time). By 1 p.m., there were only 1,000 tickets left. Arum said the ticket sales prove the drawing power of Pacquiao, who is now considered a crossover star.

“Manny Pacquiao never ceases to amaze the world with his achievements. The excitement he generated today with the initial ticket sales makes it feel like fight week already,” Arum said. On February 10, Mosley vs Pacquiao will begin their 5-city press tour to promote their match. The tour will begin in Beverly Hills, California followed by stops in Las Vegas, San Francisco, New York and Washington.
